Pakistan’s Minister Congratulates PAGE for Achieving UNESCO’s Prize for Girls Education

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Madad Ali Sindhi on Friday congratulated Pakistan Alliance for Girls’ Education (PAGE) for achieving UNESCO’s Prize for Girls and Women’s Education 2023 in China.

The minister and Secretary for Education, Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, awarded shields to the participants during the celebration of the UNESCO prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education 2023 Empowering Girls Through Education at IMSG (VI-X) G-7/2 Islamabad.

Fajr Rabia Pasha and her organization “PAGE” have been awarded the “UNESCO Prize in China for setting up schools for girls and imparting them the jewel of knowledge. The First Lady of China awarded the prize.

The minister underlined the ministry’s leadership role and appreciated its officers who nominated PAGE for this award by showing impartiality and judging the matter with utmost competence and merit.

PAGE Education Projects

He said that PAGE is running around 170 non-formal schools across the country where a number of girls are being educated. Afghan girls are also included in these educational projects. JICA of Japan and other charitable bodies are also providing financial support for these projects. These projects play an important role in poverty alleviation as well as female welfare and sustainable development.

The minister said that women were half of the population of the country and no nation could fully achieve its potential without alleviating them.

He also reiterated his resolve to ensure equal learning opportunities for women in Pakistan so that they were not left behind.
