According to the sources, the terrorists were loading explosives into a vehicle when it was targeted in the drone strike. The attack killed three terrorists and completely destroyed the vehicle.

Security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain on high alert across the country and continue to closely monitor potential security threats, the sources said.

Officials maintained that timely and intelligence-led operations are being carried out to thwart terrorist activities and maintain law and order in the region.

The sources reiterated that Pakistan has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and that operations are continuing to dismantle terrorist networks, including Ittehadul Mujahideen Pakistan.

They said the latest drone strike reflects the security forces’ intelligence-driven and targeted counterterrorism strategy aimed at eliminating terrorist infrastructure and preventing future attacks.

Terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in cross-border terrorist attacks since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Kabul in August 2021.

Islamabad has repeatedly asked the Taliban regime to take decisive and credible action against terrorist groups based in Afghanistan; however, the Taliban regime failed to curb terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil, particularly the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Afghanistan continues to remain a major regional security concern due to the presence of terrorist groups.

TTP is involved in various terrorist attacks inside Pakistan, as the terrorist group enjoys support from the Taliban regime and freely operates in Afghanistan.
