ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s armed forces on Wednesday reaffirmed their resolve to defend the country against any future aggression, warning that any hostile move would be met with a stronger and more precise response as the nation marked the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military said the night of May 6-7 represented a defining moment in Pakistan’s military history, particularly for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

“Pakistan Armed Forces, particularly Pakistan Air Force, proudly commemorate a defining chapter in the nation’s military history; one that strengthened national confidence, reaffirmed institutional resolve and validated PAF’s relentless pursuit of modernisation and focused capability enhancement,” the statement said.

The ISPR said the anniversary highlighted the PAF’s transformation into a modern and future-ready air force through the induction of advanced systems and niche operational technologies.

Skillful employment

“By mastering the skillful employment of Multi-domain Operations, Pakistan Air Force continues to consolidate itself into a future-focused and capable air power, fully prepared to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan in the face of the evolving nature and parameters of modern air warfare,” it added.

The military’s media wing described the operations carried out during the conflict as unprecedented in aerial warfare history and said they renewed the confidence and pride of the Pakistani nation.

“The successful execution of these operations, unprecedented in scope and novel in the history of aerial warfare, not only underscored the professional excellence of Pakistan Air Force but also renewed the pride, confidence and spirit of the resilient Pakistani nation,” the statement noted.

The ISPR stressed that Pakistan remains committed to peace and regional stability.

“Pakistan is a peace-loving country, and its Armed Forces embody a mature and responsible strategic culture,” it stated, adding that all military efforts are directed towards maintaining peace and ensuring security in the region.

Operational readiness

At the same time, the statement said the armed forces remain fully aware of evolving geopolitical and security challenges and continue investing in modern technologies and operational readiness.

“Any hostile design against Pakistan will be countered with even greater strength, precision and resolve far stronger than what was witnessed by the adversary during Marka-e-Haq, Insha’Allah,” the ISPR warned.

The military also paid tribute to PAF personnel for their professionalism, sacrifices and operational excellence during the conflict.

“Tonight the nation pays tribute to every member of Pakistan Air Force for their professionalism, sacrifice, untiring efforts and exceptional operational focus,” it said.

The statement concluded by describing the Pakistan Air Force as a symbol of national pride, strength and confidence.

Diplomatic efforts

The confrontation intensified on May 7 when missile strikes targeted several locations in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, killing civilians and damaging a mosque. Pakistan responded by downing Indian warplanes, including Rafale fighter jets.

Hostilities escalated further on May 10 after Indian missile attacks on Pakistani airbases, prompting Pakistan to launch Operation Bunyanum Marsoos targeting Indian military installations.

Later that day, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire following overnight diplomatic efforts, a development later confirmed by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Indian officials.
