MAKKAH: Saudi Arabia has launched a course at the Grand Mosque to enhance pilgrims’ understanding of Hajj rituals.

President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, inaugurated the course, which is part of the presidency’s programmes in preparation for the upcoming Hajj season, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.

He said that the course aims to deepen pilgrims’ religious understanding, enabling them to perform their rituals with clarity and confidence, based on Islamic legal evidence and jurisprudential principles, while enriching both their spiritual and intellectual experience.

The lessons of the course are delivered at digital platforms, translated into multiple languages, and made easily accessible through QR codes, ensuring wider reach and greater benefit for pilgrims and visitors.

As one of the central pillars of Islam, Hajj holds profound significance for Muslims worldwide, making proper knowledge of its rituals especially important.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has once again emphasised that individuals holding visit visas are strictly prohibited from performing Hajj, warning that violators will face severe penalties under the Kingdom’s regulations.

According to an official statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Wednesday, anyone found transporting visit-visa holders to Makkah for the purpose of performing Hajj could be fined up to SR100,000 (approximately $27,000).

In addition to the financial penalty, authorities have made it clear that vehicles used in such violations will be confiscated.

This year’s Hajj is expected to take place between May 25 and May 30, subject to the sighting of the moon, which determines the start of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah.
