NACTA to Launch Coordinated Intelligence-Based Operations to Combat Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has decided to launch joint intelligence-based operations (IBOs) targeting terrorist outfits in Pakistan. The decision was made during NACTA’s monthly counter-terrorism intelligence conference on Monday.

The conference, which included representatives from police, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies, reviewed the current security situation and potential threats.

A NACTA spokesperson stated that the focus of the meeting was on enhancing the sharing of actionable intelligence among various stakeholders to combat terrorism. The participants emphasized their commitment to eradicating terrorism through coordinated efforts.

The spokesperson also highlighted that Pakistan aims to become a completely safe and peaceful country through these collective initiatives.

Recent months have seen a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, following the end of a ceasefire by the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in November 2022.

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan experienced 1,524 fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 terror attacks and counter-terrorism operations in 2023, marking the highest level of violence in six years.
