KYIV: The military intelligence of Ukraine claimed on Friday that a recent drone strike on an airport in northwest Russia, which resulted in damage to numerous transport planes, was originated from within Russian territory.
This claim was made at the time when Kyiv police were responding to bomb threats in the capital as students were returning to their classrooms for the second academic year since Russia’s invasion.
The attack took place earlier this week at Pskov airport, which is located about 700 kilometers (nearly 400 miles) from Ukraine. It is the most recent incident to have an effect on Russian territory since Kyiv announced its determination to “return” the conflict to Russia back in July.
Kyrylo Budanov, the chief of Ukrainian intelligence, posted on social media on Friday that “the drones used in the attack on the ‘Kresty’ air base in Pskov were launched from within Russia.”
