“We need to find alternatives to viticulture” : in the Gard and Vaucluse départements of southern France, winegrowers are diversifying their crops in response to global warming and declining wine consumption. After grubbing up part of their vines, Amandine and Matthias Reynard have planted pistachio trees, which they plan to bring to market in four to five years’ time. Through “Les Perles du Gard”, Nicolas Dussaud and his colleagues, for their part, are moving into lentil cultivation.
