RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence will hold the first military history forum in September 2026 to document the Kingdom’s military heritage.
The event, which will be held in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) and Taif University’s Taif History Centre, will document the evolution of the Armed Forces, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
The forum will explore four key themes: the military foundations of the Kingdom, the pivotal role of Taif Governorate in the formation of the Saudi Army, the historical evolution of the Armed Forces, and the key sources used in documenting Saudi military history.
These themes aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Kingdom’s military heritage and its development over time.
The programme will feature a range of activities, including peer-reviewed research paper presentations, expert-led panel discussions, a curated historical exhibition, and guided field visits to military installations as well as sites of historical importance.
These engagements are designed to encourage scholarly exchange, deepen historical insight, and promote collaboration among participants.
Researchers, historians, and academics are invited to submit their abstracts through the Darah digital platform by May 15, while completed research papers must be submitted by June 30 for review and inclusion in the forum proceedings.
