ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces killed four more terrorists during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, while the total number of terrorists killed in intelligence-based counterterrorism operations across the province since July 5 has reached 121, security sources said on Tuesday.
The total number of terrorists killed in the Operation Shaban has reached 83, security sources said.
The operation is being jointly carried out by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police following the terrorist attack in the Mangi Dam area, in which several cops were martyred on July 7.
Air and ground operations against Fitna-al-Khawarij — a term the state uses for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group — were ongoing, security sources said.

According to security sources, the total number of terrorists killed during Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations carried out since July 5 in Balochistan had reached 121.
A post on the interior ministry’s X account said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for “further successes” in Operation Shaban.
“The Pakistan Army, Balochistan FC and police’s remarkable successes during the joint operation are praiseworthy,” the statement said.
He praised the security forces for their successful action against terrorists, the government refers to as “Fitna-al-Hindustan,” a term used by Pakistani authorities for armed groups operating in Balochistan that they allege are backed by India to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
Naqvi said the security forces had thwarted what he called the terrorists’ “nefarious designs” and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing joint operations until terrorism is eliminated. He added that the entire nation stands in support of the security forces in their counterterrorism efforts.

On Monday, Naqvi said the killing of terrorists during Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations reflected the security forces’ high level of preparedness, professionalism, and operational readiness.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the country’s civil and military leadership had taken a “mutual and singular decision” to end terrorism after multiple major terrorist incidents in Balochistan.
Pakistan witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.
In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, targeting terrorist hideouts across the border.
Despite several rounds of talks, both countries have been unable to reach an agreement, largely due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s reluctance to take action against terrorist outfits.
