KARACHI: Lahore Qalandars produced a breathtaking display of power-hitting to post a colossal 210 runs against the Rawalpindiz in the 27th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Bank Stadium here on Saturday.
Batting first on a pristine Karachi pitch, the Qalandars openers tore into the opposition attack, setting the platform for a late-innings flourish that has left Rawalpindiz with a mountain to climb in the chase.

Explosive opening stand
The cornerstone of the innings was a monstrous 121-run partnership for the first wicket between Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Farooq. Farooq played the aggressor early on, smashing 63 off just 41 balls, a knock featuring five massive sixes and five fours, before he was caught by Forrester off the bowling of Mohammad Amir (2/25).
Fakhar Zaman continued his sublime form, anchoring the innings with a classy 84 off 54 deliveries (11 fours, 1 six). He looked set for a deserved century before falling in the 19th over, caught by Forrester off Amir once again.

Middle-order cameo
Abdullah Shafique contributed a brisk 26 off 18 balls, but the Qalandars suffered a momentary stutter when Sikandar Raza was dismissed for a first-ball duck – caught behind off Razaullah.
However, any hopes of a Rawalpindiz comeback were extinguished by Asif Ali, who produced a late fireworks show. The hard-hitting batter remained not out on 14 runs from just 6 balls, smashing two towering sixes to propel Lahore past the 200-run mark.

Bowling woes for Rawalpindiz
The Rawalpindiz bowling attack looked disjointed, with only Mohammad Amir (4-0-25-2) emerging with respectable figures. Razaullah picked up two wickets but was expensive, conceding 45 runs in his four overs.
Daryl Mitchell was the most expensive bowler, leaking 47 runs, while Cole McConchie and Saad Masood also went at over 10 runs per over. The fielding unit compounded the misery, dropping a catch and conceding 22 extras (including 15 wides).
