ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that Pakistan was close to signing the much-needed agreement with International Monetary Fund (IMF) to stave off a default as “one or two items were remaining to be settled”.
Addressing a federal cabinet meeting regarding the expected staff-level agreement with IMF this week, he highlighted the measures that the government was taking to stabilize the economy.
He urged cabinet members to show a performance that was required in this difficult time being faced by the country due to multiple reasons, including IMF conditions, imported inflation, or the performance of the previous PTI government.
