JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on Friday discussed latest regional developments during a phone call with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The call focused on ongoing efforts to enhance security and stability across the region, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The leaders also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, reflecting the close ties between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and ongoing coordination on regional matters.

The call came at a time when US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday, intended to end a conflict that began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

It further outlines plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and initiate a 60-day negotiation period on broader issues, including Iran’s nuclear programme.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain share one of the closest bilateral relationships in the Gulf region, built on deep political, economic, and security cooperation within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
