ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior has rejected claims circulating on social media alleging that Pakistani nationals are being specifically targeted for deportation from the United Arab Emirates, calling the reports “malafide”, “fabricated” and part of a “vicious propaganda campaign”.
The ministry, in a statement on Friday, clarified that no country-specific or sect-specific deportation campaign is underway in the UAE or any other country.
According to the statement, deportations — where they occur — are part of routine immigration and legal enforcement procedures linked to violations such as overstaying visas, illegal documentation, or breaches of local laws.
“No country or sect-specific deportations from any country, including the UAE, are being carried out,” the ministry said.

The ministry further noted that Pakistani nationals who meet visa, employment, and residency requirements continue to travel to and obtain work opportunities in the UAE and other friendly countries “without prejudice”.
The clarification comes amid widespread social media posts claiming that the UAE had begun a crackdown specifically targeting Pakistanis. However, the Interior Ministry said fake news being peddled to the contrary, along with social media posts, is malicious and fabricated with the purpose of serving ulterior motives.
Officials stressed that any issue involving Pakistani citizens abroad is handled individually through established diplomatic and foreign office channels.
Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that the deportation of Pakistani nationals from the United Arab Emirates was primarily related to immigration violations and other legal matters, rather than political reasons.
The United Arab Emirates is home to one of the largest overseas Pakistani communities in the world, with an estimated 1.8 million expatriates, and it remains a key source of remittances for Pakistan’s economy.
