RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army cadet has earned top honours at the prestigious Australian Royal Military College (RMC) Duntroon, with Army Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas being declared the “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” during the passing out parade held in Canberra.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the award was presented during the commissioning parade at RMC Duntroon on May 5, recognising the highest-performing foreign cadet across all aspects of military training.
Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas belongs to the Pakistan Military Academy’s 152 Long Course.
The ceremony was reviewed by Australian Chief of Army Lieutenant General Simon Stuart and attended by members of the diplomatic corps, Australian Defence Force officials, families of graduating cadets and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Australia.
Service and sacrifice
The ISPR described the achievement as a reflection of the professionalism, discipline and high standards demonstrated by young officers of the Pakistan Army.
Pakistan and Australia maintain longstanding military cooperation, particularly in professional military training and defence exchanges.
Since 2013, seven Pakistan Army officers have served as platoon commanders on the faculty of RMC Duntroon, while 46 Pakistani Army cadets have graduated from the institution since 2009.
The latest recognition marks the 14th time a Pakistani cadet has received the distinction of “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” at the academy.
The ISPR also recalled Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Sehriya Shaheed, Tamgha-e-Basalat, who received the honour earlier and embraced martyrdom during an operation in North Waziristan in September 2020.
His name remains inscribed on the memorial stone at the RMC parade ground in recognition of his service and sacrifice.
