ADELAIDE, Australia: Pakistan paceman Hasan Ali has written his name into a unique segment of Big Bash League (BBL) history on Tuesday, becoming the third Pakistani bowler to deliver a maiden over in the tournament’s history.
The feat came during his Adelaide Strikers’ tense six-run victory over the Sydney Thunder at the Adelaide Oval.
Discipline and control in powerplay
Representing the Strikers, Hasan opened his spell with immaculate control against a formidable pairing of David Warner and Matthew Gilkes.
Bowling tight lines with consistent movement, he denied the batters any scoring opportunity off the bat.
Although Warner managed a leg-bye on the third delivery, the over was recorded as a maiden, a rare achievement in the fast-paced, high-scoring environment of T20 cricket.

Joining an elite Pakistani trio

Hasnain’s maiden over also came on his BBL debut, adding a layer of coincidence to the milestone.

The experienced campaigner maintained his discipline throughout his spell, finishing with highly economical figures of 1 for 22 from his four overs.
His contribution proved vital in restricting the Thunder, who fell just short of the Strikers’ total of 165 for 8.
The Strikers’ bowling attack was led by England’s Jamie Overton (3 wickets), with support from Lloyd Pope (2 wickets).
Strikers post a competitive total
Earlier, after being put into bat, the Adelaide Strikers built their total on the back of a collective effort.
Middle-order batter Liam Scott anchored the innings with an unbeaten 49 from 32 balls, striking seven fours to guide his side to a competitive score that ultimately proved just enough for victory.
