LOS ANGELES: While Brad Pitt walked the red carpet in London for the premiere of his upcoming racing thriller F1, a real-life crime was unfolding back home—one that no script could have written better.

Late Thursday night, burglars broke into Pitt’s Los Feliz residence in Los Angeles, slipping past the front fence and smashing through a window to gain entry, according to reports from NBC News and the Los Angeles Times. The intruders reportedly ransacked the property before vanishing with an undisclosed haul of stolen items.

Pitt, 61, was thousands of miles away at the time, attending international promotional events for his much-anticipated film. The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star had purchased the home in 2023 for $5.5 million, but wasn’t present during the break-in.

The LAPD confirmed that a burglary did occur in the area around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night, though they did not officially name Pitt as the victim. However, multiple sources linked the targeted property to the Oscar-winning actor.

So far, no arrests have been made, and the value of the stolen items remains unclear. The investigation is ongoing.

Pitt now joins a growing list of A-listers recently targeted by burglars in the Los Angeles area. Just months ago, thieves reportedly made off with nearly $500,000 in jewellery from soccer star Olivier Giroud’s home. Around the same time, the residence of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban was also allegedly broken into.

With celebrity homes increasingly becoming targets, law enforcement is urging residents—famous or not—to invest in upgraded security systems and remain vigilant, especially when away.

For now, Brad Pitt’s F1 may be burning up the screen, but the break-in back home has brought a harsh reminder that fame offers no immunity from real-world threats.
