ISLAMABAD: Israel confirmed that it has agreed to the US proposal for a bilateral ceasefire with Iran, but will “respond forcefully” to any violations of the truce.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the premier met with the cabinet, the defence minister, the IDF chief of staff and the head of Mossad “to report that Israel had achieved all of the objectives of Operation Rising Lion, and much more.”
“Israel has removed a dual immediate existential threat – both in the nuclear and ballistic missile fields,” the statement read.
According to the statement, “the IDF achieved full air control over Tehran’s skies, inflicted severe damage on the military leadership, and destroyed dozens of central Iranian government targets.”
Iran has not officially confirmed any ceasefire so far. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran would cease the fighting if Israel agrees to stop its “aggression against the Iranian people.”

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel was in effect and urged both sides to respect the reported truce.
Earlier, the US president announced a complete ceasefire between Israel and Iran, potentially ending the 12-day war that prompted fears of further escalation in the war-torn region.
Neither country has confirmed the ceasefire; however, Iran said earlier said that if Israel stops its attacks, Iran will also bring an end to its strikes.

In a post on Truth Social, the US president posted: “Israel & Iran came to me, almost simultaneously, and said, “PEACE!” I knew the time was NOW. The World, and the Middle East, are the real WINNERS! Both Nations will see tremendous LOVE, PEACE, AND PROSPERITY in their futures.”
“They have so much to gain, and yet, so much to lose if they stray from the road of RIGHTEOUSNESS & TRUTH. The future for Israel & Iran is UNLIMITED, & filled with great PROMISE. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!”, he added
“Two volleys of missiles”
Earlier, Israeli military claimed “two volleys of missiles” were launched from Iran towards Israel in the early hours of Tuesday, according to Reuters.
Witnesses later heard explosions near Tel Aviv and Beersheba in central Israel. Israeli media said a building had been struck and three people were killed in the missile strike on Beersheba.
It follows Iran launching missiles at a US airbase in Qatar in response to strikes on its nuclear sites on Saturday.
“Flagrant violation”
Trump said there were no US or Qatari casualties, and Qatar said all the missiles aimed at the US-run Al Udeid base were intercepted and labelled the attack a “flagrant violation”.
“On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR’,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social site.
While an Iranian official earlier confirmed that Tehran had agreed to a ceasefire, the country’s foreign minister said there would be no cessation of hostilities unless Israel stopped its attacks.
Abbas Araqchi said early on Tuesday that if Israel stopped its “illegal aggression” against the Iranian people no later than 4am Tehran time (0030 GMT) on Tuesday, Iran had no intention of continuing its response afterwards.
According to Reuters, there have been no reported Israeli attacks on Iran since that time.
“The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later,” Araqchi added in a post on X.
As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around.
As of now, there is NO “agreement” on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no…
A senior White House official said Trump had brokered the deal in a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel had agreed so long as Iran did not launch further attacks.
