Key points

  • Colombo confirmed as match’s neutral venue
  • Colombo to host final if Pakistan qualify

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan are set to face arch-rivals India on 5 October in Colombo, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) officially announced the schedule for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on Monday.

The tournament will commence on 30 September, with hosts India taking on joint-hosts Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.

This month-long event will be held across five venues: Bengaluru, Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo.

It is important to note that all of Pakistan’s fixtures will be played in Colombo, which will serve as a neutral venue in line with the ongoing diplomatic arrangement known as the “fusion formula”.

This arrangement, similar to the one proposed for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, ensures that India and Pakistan do not play ICC matches on each other’s soil over the next three years.

Pakistan’s women team

Pakistan’s women team will begin their World Cup campaign on 2 October against Bangladesh, followed by a highly anticipated clash with India on 5 October.

Their league fixtures will continue against Australia (8 Oct), England (15 Oct), New Zealand (18 Oct), South Africa (21 Oct), and Sri Lanka (24 Oct).

Regarding the knockout stage, the first semi-final will be held on 29 October in either Guwahati or Colombo, while the second semi-final is scheduled for 30 October in Bengaluru.

The final is due to take place on 2 November in Bengaluru, unless Pakistan qualify, in which case the final will be moved to Colombo.
