ISLAMABAD: Pakistani film “Joyland” has been shortlisted for the 95th International Feature Film category.
Pakistani film Joyland’s streak of success continues after screening and winning the Jury Award at the Cannes Film Festival. The Oscar Committee of Pakistan nominated the film for the International Feature Film category of the 95th Oscar Awards from Pakistan. Now, the film has been shortlisted from 92 countries worldwide. Joyland is among the 15 shortlisted movies worldwide, while the final five nominations will be announced on January 24.
Pakistani stars
The film, starring Aleena Khan, Ali Junejo, Rasta Farooq, Sarwat Geelani, Salman Pirzada, and Sania Saeed, was nominated in September by Pakistan’s Oscars Selection Committee for the ‘World Feature Film Award category at the 95th Academy Awards to be held in 2023. Two-time Oscar-winning director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy chairs Pakistan’s selection committee.
