RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Authority has issued an urgent plea to the United Nations, calling for immediate intervention to stop the escalating Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, Al Jazeera reported.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority presidency, labeled Israel’s actions as “organized terrorism” against Palestinians in multiple locations and urged the international community to act swiftly.

The Palestinian Authority explicitly held the United States accountable for the intensifying conflict and called on it to exert pressure on the Israeli government to cease its aggressive actions against Palestinians. He further appealed to the UN Security Council, urging urgent intervention to stop the shedding of Palestinian blood amid what he described as “unprecedented international silence.”

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for international intervention to prevent a planned march by far-right Israeli activists on Al Aqsa Mosque. The Israeli police has approved the protest, with demonstrators demanding an end to the control of the holy site by the Waqf, the Islamic endowment that administers the area.

Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza Amid Israeli Bombardments

Amid the ongoing crisis, the United Nations highlighted significant impediments to receiving incoming aid trucks in Gaza over the past three days. Factors such as a shortage of trucks within Gaza, trucks stranded in the central area due to severance from the south, a telecommunication blackout, and increasing difficulties for staff reaching the crossing point due to Israeli bombardments have collectively impaired the UN’s ability to provide essential aid.

Meanwhile, Husam Zomlot, head of the Palestinian mission to the UK, welcomed the announcement by the US State Department regarding visa restrictions on Israeli settlers involved in undermining peace, security, or stability in the West Bank. Zomlot emphasized the need for comprehensive sanctions on all illegal colonial settlers, including dual nationals, the sponsoring state, and supporting organizations.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) issued a statement indicating that heavy Israeli bombardment and the resumption of military operations in Gaza are pushing its operations in the enclave to the brink. The agency highlighted challenges such as the lack of regular humanitarian and fuel deliveries, dependency on a single crossing point, and overwhelming needs in Gaza, which are hindering relief activities.
