ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top leadership has praised the nation’s security forces for their successful intelligence-based operation against Fitna al Hindustan terrorists in Dera Bugti, Balochistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari said the nation’s resolve and the armed forces’ determination would remain intact until the end of this menace. Likewise, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country, according to Radio Pakistan.
Echoing the national leadership, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, in a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, emphasised that terrorists cannot impose their system on the nation and the people of Balochistan stand firmly with the armed forces. He highlighted the surrender of nearly 100 terrorists in Dera Bugti as a positive development and urged unity for the sake of the state.
Bugti provided figures noting that over the past year, Balochistan witnessed 900 incidents of terrorism resulting in 205 security personnel, six officers, and 280 civilian casualties, while security forces neutralised 760 terrorists, including significant engagements along the Afghan border. He criticised violations of the Doha Agreement by the Afghan caretaker government, warning against the use of Afghan soil against Pakistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the December 5–6 operation in Dera Bugti resulted in the killing of five terrorists linked to Fitna al Hindustan. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered, and sanitisation operations are ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining foreign-sponsored terrorists. This is part of the nationwide Azm e Istehkam counterterrorism framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
Meanwhile, operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have neutralised multiple terrorists, including 12 in Kalat and nine tied to Fitna al Khwarij in other districts. ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their efforts to dismantle all foreign-sponsored and supported terrorist networks operating in the country.
