ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to face Afghanistan in the first match of the upcoming tri-nation T20 series, which begins on 29 August at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

All fixtures, including the final on Sunday, 7 September, will be played at the same venue. The top two teams at the end of the round-robin stage will compete for the title.
Salman Ali Agha
Pakistan’s 17-man squad will be led by Salman Ali Agha, who brings prior leadership experience from 18 matches as captain.
Since landing in the UAE on 20 August, the Pakistani team has been preparing for the series with training sessions and practice games in Dubai.
This tri-series serves as an important lead-up to the ACC Asia Cup, an eight-team tournament scheduled from 9 to 28 September in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

In T20I matchups, Pakistan has faced Afghanistan seven times, coming out on top in four. Their only T20I encounter with the UAE was during the 2016 Asia Cup, which Pakistan also won.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, skipper Salman Ali Agha said, “This tri-series will greatly help us in our preparations for the Asia Cup. I am very excited about it and I know it will be a challenging contest for which we are fully ready.
“Leading the Pakistan team is not only an honour for me but also a great responsibility. The team is playing good cricket at the moment and I am hopeful we will continue to deliver strong performances in the matches ahead.”
