ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Security forces have killed 11 terrorists during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, security sources said on Saturday.
Five terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij were killed during an intelligence-based operation in South Waziristan, security sources said.
The state uses the term Fitna-al-Khawarij to refer to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Balochistan-based groups are referred to as Fitna-al-Hindustan, a term used to allege Indian involvement in terrorism and destabilisation of the country.
The security forces conducted the operation as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework.

A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the killed terrorists.
In a separate operation, security forces killed six terrorists in the Gorander and Mashkel areas of Balochistan during an operation.
Security forces continue effective operations against Fitna al Hindustan under Operation Raddul Fitna 3,” security sources said.
They said that the terrorists belonging to Fitna al Hindustan attempted to flee after opening fire on a security checkpost in Mashkel.
“Security forces responded promptly and killed the fleeing terrorists,” according to security sources.

Pakistan witnesses significant rise in cross-border terrorist attacks
Pakistan has witnessed a significant rise in cross-border terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.
The country recorded its highest monthly number of militant attacks in 12 years in September 2026.
According to data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based independent think tank that monitors anti-state violence in the region, 225 terrorist attacks were reported across the country in September, up from 199 in August, marking a 13% increase. The number of attacks rose for the third consecutive month.

Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent its territory from being used by terrorist organisations to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
The country maintains that the Afghan Taliban authorities have failed to take effective action against groups responsible for attacks on the security forces and civilians, a claim disputed by Kabul.
Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February 2026, months after the two countries agreed to a ceasefire in October 2025 following clashes at several points along the border.
