ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has discussed the agreement between the United States and Iran during phone calls with Turkish and Egyptian foreign ministers.

Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during a phone call, welcomed the recent understandings reached between the United States and Iran and exchanged views on the forthcoming signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 19, 2026, the Foreign Office said on Wednesday.

They also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Regional Four Foreign Ministers’ meeting later this month, as well as their commitment to strengthening longstanding brotherly ties between Islamabad and Ankara.

Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar held a separate telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

“The two leaders exchanged views on the recent understandings reached between the United States and Iran and the forthcoming signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on Friday,” the Foreign Office said.

They also discussed preparations for the upcoming Regional Four (R-4) Foreign Ministers’ meeting later this month and agreed to remain in close contact.

US and Iranian officials announced on Sunday that they had agreed on a framework aimed at ending hostilities, lifting the US blockade on Iran and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route.

US President Donald Trump declared on his Truth Social platform that a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran had been completed, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced earlier on Monday that a peace agreement between the United States and Iran had been reached following intensive diplomatic efforts in which Pakistan played a mediating role.

Pakistan has consistently supported diplomatic efforts during the period of tensions between the United States and Iran and has remained committed to peaceful solutions to international disputes.
