JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s cabinet on Tuesday praised the outcome of a trilateral summit with Turkiye and Pakistan, saying it would help establish a long-term defence partnership that will contribute to strengthening joint cooperation, coordination, and integration between the three nations.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held in Jeddah on Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed a joint defence pact on August 7, 2026, establishing a collective security framework under which an armed attack against any one member is considered an attack against all three.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed the pact during the “Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence”.

The cabinet added the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit’s outcomes would support greater coordination and integration between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan, as well as joint efforts to address regional challenges and promote international security and stability.
King Salam, in his remarks, said the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence would reaffirm the deep-rooted historical ties among the three countries and their shared commitment to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and Islamic solidarity while advancing their common strategic interests.

He said the outcomes of the tripartite summit will contribute to efforts to address regional challenges and preserve international security and stability, in a manner that supports the aspirations of the peoples of the region and the wider international community for a more prosperous and flourishing future.
Saudi Arabia’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to support de-escalation
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Education and Acting Minister of Media Yousef Al-Benyan said the Cabinet reviewed key regional and international developments and discussed Saudi Arabia’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to support de-escalation and advance peaceful solutions.
He said the Kingdom is continuing consultations and coordination with brotherly and friendly countries to promote diplomatic initiatives, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and safeguard the security of international waterways, particularly the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, which are vital to global economic stability.
Cabinet welcomes UN Security Council condemnation of Houthi militia
The Cabinet welcomed a United Nations Security Council statement condemning attacks and criminal acts by the Houthi militia that threaten regional security and freedom of maritime navigation. It reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its security and resources, while reiterating its support for Yemen’s legitimate government and UN-led efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the country.

The Cabinet also commended the outcomes of the Ministerial Meeting in Support of Jerusalem and its Holy Sites, held in Amman, reaffirming the Kingdom’s firm rejection of any attempts to alter the legal and historical status of Jerusalem or undermine its identity.
Cabinet urges global action to halt Israeli violations in Gaza, West Bank
It called on the international community to take action to halt Israeli violations in Gaza and the West Bank, protect Islamic and Christian holy sites, and support the Palestinian people.
On emerging technologies, the Cabinet noted that Riyadh’s hosting of the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in September reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting international dialogue on emerging technologies and responsible AI.

The forum is expected to contribute to efforts toward a more inclusive, sustainable and ethical digital future.
The Cabinet also praised the Kingdom’s successful hosting of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad and the outstanding performance of Saudi students in the competition, describing the achievement as a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s growing role in international scientific events and its commitment to nurturing young talent in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
