ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s reprehensible drone attack targeting Makkah.
“Such a provocative act violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, gravely offends the religious sentiments of the Muslims worldwide, and threatens regional peace and security,” he said in a statement posted on X.
He said Pakistan stands firmly with the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in safeguarding the sanctity and security of the Two Holy Mosques, the Haramain Sharifain, and ensuring the safety of pilgrims, citizens, and residents.

Pakistan PM Sharif denounces Houthi attack
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a separate statement, has also condemned in the “strongest possible terms” an attempted drone attack near the Holy Site of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, expressing Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
The prime minister said the attempted attack had deeply saddened and perturbed the people of Pakistan, while praising the Royal Saudi Armed Forces for their swift response.
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the dastardly and heinous attempted drone attack against the Holy Site of Makkah Al-Mukarramah,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.

Houthi drone destroyed before entering Makkah’s airspace
Earlier, Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al-Malki, in a statement, said the Royal Saudi Air Defence Forces intercepted and destroyed a hostile drone on Tuesday evening launched by the terrorist Houthi militia before it entered the prohibited airspace area of the Holy City of Makkah. The hostile drone was intercepted in southern Makkah.
“This hostile and terrorist act is the second attempt to target Makkah, following the first attempt with a ballistic missile on July 27, 2017,” he said.
He described the act as an attempt to target the birthplace of revelation, the land of the message, and the destination that draws the hearts of millions of Muslims from around the world.

“It was also an attempt to terrorize the Umrah performers visiting the Grand Mosque in peace and to harm citizens and residents,” according to the statement.
This hostile attempt will remain a mark of shame on the record of violations committed by the extremist terrorist Houthi militia, as it was a deliberate act intended to provoke the feelings of millions of Muslims, he noted.
“The security of the Two Holy Mosques and the Umrah performers is a red line, and the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will not hesitate to take the necessary and deterrent measures against the terrorist Houthi militia and its hostile and terrorist behavior,” said the statement.
