ISLAMABAD: Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, has publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s role in recent ceasefire efforts while warning that Tehran will approach the truce with caution.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Ghalibaf said the ceasefire was “nothing but a result of Hezbollah’s steadfastness and the unity of the Axis of Resistance,” adding that Iran and its allies would remain vigilant until what he described as the “full realization of victory.”
He specifically thanked “the mediating efforts of the State of Pakistan and General Asim Munir for endorsing this ceasefire,” signalling Islamabad’s growing diplomatic role in regional de-escalation efforts.
In a separate post shared earlier, Ghalibaf linked the ceasefire in Lebanon to Hezbollah’s military and strategic resilience, describing it as the outcome of “steadfastness and struggle” and what he termed the group’s “heroic deeds.” He emphasised that the consolidation of the truce would depend on continued unity among resistance forces.
The Iranian parliamentary speaker also issued a pointed message to Washington, stating that the United States “must commit to the agreement” and criticising its regional approach, including what he called the “Israel first” policy.
He asserted that “the Resistance and Iran are one and the same entity, whether in war or in a ceasefire,” underscoring Tehran’s alignment with allied groups.
Ghalibaf’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilise the situation, with Pakistan positioning itself as a key intermediary in preventing further escalation.
