ISLAMABAD: Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, called on Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived in Antalya on Wednesday evening to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi were also present during the meeting.
During the cordial conversation, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and thanked him for his participation in the upcoming forum. He also conveyed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was looking forward to meeting the Pakistani premier on the sidelines of the event.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Turkish foreign minister for the warm welcome and hospitality. He described his visit to Türkiye as a return to his “second home” and expressed anticipation for his participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The prime minister also said he was looking forward to meeting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the forum.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Antalya as part of Pakistan’s broader regional diplomatic tour from April 15 to 18, which also includes visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
He was received at the airport by Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Türkiye Yusuf Junaid, and senior diplomatic officials.
During his stay, the prime minister is scheduled to attend the Fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum and participate in the “Leaders Panel,” where he will present Pakistan’s perspective on key regional and global issues. He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other world leaders on the sidelines of the forum.
The visit comes amid Islamabad’s intensified diplomatic engagement in regional affairs, including efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran.
