ISLAMABAD: Despite optimistic statements from Bangladesh’s sports minister, the proposed India cricket tour of Bangladesh in September remains entangled in a web of political tension and diplomatic uncertainty, with both nations struggling to find common ground amid strained bilateral relations.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is walking a tightrope as the future of the series hangs in the balance, following a series of political developments that have tested the historically complex relationship between the two neighbouring countries.

While Bangladesh State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque publicly dismissed fears of strained relations, telling media, “No no no, I don’t think so (that our relationship is strained)”.

Aminul acknowledged that the issue is being handled at the highest diplomatic levels, revealing that he had spoken with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister and that discussions with India’s Foreign Minister were underway.
“It is being worked on at the ministerial level,” Aminul said. “We want to quickly resolve the deadlock that was created around the World Cup. Inshallah, we are hopeful that it will be resolved very soon.”
