OUAGADOUGOU, BURKINA FASO: Burkina Faso said on Sunday that operations by the French troops in African country were officially over, following bilateral ties fermented in recent months.

French Army Operations

Burkina’s military said in a statement that senior officials from French army and Burkinabe in the African nation held a flag-lowering ceremony to mark the occasion at a camp near the capital on Saturday.

In January, France had confirmed that it would withdraw its troops stationed in Burkina Faso, following the rulers demanded the force pull out within a month.

The demand came days following Burkina’s PM Apollinaire Kyelem de Tembela declared Moscow to be a “reasonable” choice of new ally in war against terrorism.

However, the African country’s spokesperson said that this does not mean the end of diplomatic ties between France and Burkina Faso.
