RAWALPINDI: Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan struck a blistering 76 off 47 balls to help the hosts post a competitive 168/8 in 20 overs against Sri Lanka in the third and final T20 International of the series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Put in to bat first, Pakistan made a flying start as openers Fakhar Zaman and Farhan added 34 runs in just three overs. However, Eshan Malinga struck twice in the fourth over, removing Fakhar for 12 and in-form batter Maaz Sadaqat for a duck.

Farhan then joined Hasan Nawaz, and the pair added 33 runs before Vijayakanth Viyaskanth dismissed Hasan for 16 off 17 deliveries in the ninth over.

Sri Lanka tightened their grip on the innings as Dasun Shanaka removed wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Nafay for three in the following over. Shanaka struck twice more in his next two overs, dismissing Mohammad Imran for six and Abdul Samad for 15, leaving Pakistan struggling at 102/6.

With the innings in danger of stalling, Farhan combined with emerging all-rounder Arafat Minhas to rebuild Pakistan’s total. The pair put on a crucial 66-run partnership, providing the hosts with a strong finish.

Farhan top-scored with 76 off 47 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. His innings ended at the hands of Nuwan Thushara on the penultimate delivery of the innings.
