RIYADH: Three people were killed and 36 others were injured in two attacks targeting airports in Riyadh and Abha, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said on Wednesday.
According to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), on October 6 and 7, 2026, Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh were targeted by two separate attacks, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Emergency response teams and the relevant authorities immediately responded to the attacks in accordance with established protocols and the applicable emergency response plans, the civil aviation authority said.
At Abha International Airport, the blatant attack resulted in two fatalities, a Moroccan and an Algerian female resident, as well as 28 injuries ranging from minor to serious among Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident, and a Filipino resident, GACA stated.
At King Khalid International Airport, the attack resulted in one fatality, a resident of Sudanese nationality, as well as eight injuries ranging from minor to critical among five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and a Pakistani resident, according to GACA.

All injured individuals were transported to hospital for appropriate medical care. The two attacks also caused some property damage, according to GACA.
GACA is working in coordination with the relevant authorities to assess the damage, verify the safety of the facilities, and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and maintain the security and safety of operations within the Kingdom’s civil aviation system.
