According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar congratulated General Syed Aamer Raza on his promotion and appointment as Commander of the National Strategic Command and wished him all the success in his new responsibilities.
“They agreed on the importance of close institutional coordination in advancing Pakistan’s national interests and contributing to regional peace and security,” the statement said.
General Aamer Raza became the first Commander of the National Strategic Command on July 31. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved his appointment on July 24.
The office of Commander of the National Strategic Command was established after the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy (Amendment) Bills 2025 came into force.
Under the same legislation, Field Marshal Asim Munir was appointed as Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, while the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) was abolished.
The appointment reinforced the country’s Armed Forces’ emphasis on selecting officers for their highest responsibilities on the basis of professional merit, experience, and suitability for the role.
Owing to his extensive experience and competence, General Aamer Raza is widely regarded as the best choice to lead this new headquarters, which will serve as the pivot for matters pertaining to the Strategic Domain.
