Muslim Countries Condemn Houthis’ Continued Targeting of Civilians, Economic Infrastructure in Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: Muslim nations have strongly condemned the Houthis’ continued targeting of civilians and economic infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, as well as the targeting of Saudi ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Earlier, Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al-Malki said that a ballistic missile launched by Houthis was intercepted and destroyed north of Riyadh.

He confirmed that the Coalition is tracking the launch platform over Sana’a using its intelligence systems and will destroy it.

In another statement, Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards Khamis Mushait was intercepted and destroyed.

He said Sana’a, Saada and Amran were the sources of Houthi missile threats, adding that the coalition continued to neutralise ballistic and surface-to-surface missile threats and target their sources.

UAE

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the Houthis continued attacks on civilians and economic assets in Saudi Arabia, as well as the targeting of Saudi ships in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

In a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that such continued targeting constitutes a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability.

The ministry affirmed the UAE’s full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all measures taken to safeguard the Kingdom’s security and stability.

Kuwait

Kuwait strongly condemned the continued blatant and disgraceful attacks by the Houthis against Makkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia, the foreign ministry said.

The ministry said the attacks provoke the sentiments of Muslims worldwide and represent a dangerous escalation in violating the sanctity of Islamic holy sites.

It also condemned attacks targeting Riyadh and other Saudi cities, as well as civilians, civilian and economic facilities, and vessels in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandab Strait, warning that such actions threaten regional security and maritime safety.

Gulf Cooperation Council

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi condemned in the strongest terms the two flagrant attacks carried out by the terrorist Houthis targeting facilities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport in Saudi Arabia.

The GCC chief affirmed that targeting airports and civilian infrastructure constitutes a dangerous escalation, a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and a direct threat to civilian safety and civil aviation, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

“The Houthi militia’s persistent targeting of civilian and vital installations across the Kingdom reflects an unacceptable aggressive posture and blatant disregard for the rules of international law and international humanitarian law,” Albudaiwi stressed.

He underscored the imperative for the international community to assume its responsibilities and adopt a decisive stance against these attacks, hold the perpetrators accountable, and halt these systematic terrorist practices that jeopardize regional security, stability, and international air navigation.

Jordan

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Tuesday affirmed his country’s full support for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to safeguard its security, stability and territorial integrity, while condemning Houthi attacks targeting areas in the Kingdom, including attempts to target Makkah and Madinah.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held a phone call with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

During the call, the Jordanian foreign minister expressed his country’s condemnation and denunciation of the brutal attacks by the Houthis targeting areas in the Kingdom, including attempts to target Makkah and Madinah, as well as civilian and economic facilities.

Safadi affirmed Jordan’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its full support for all measures it takes to safeguard its security, stability, and territorial integrity.

The two ministers also discussed the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries and the latest regional developments.

Egypt

Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday reaffirmed his country’s full support for Saudi Arabia’s security and stability and condemned all attacks targeting the Kingdom during a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.

During the phone call, the Saudi and Egyptian foreign ministers reviewed the fraternal and strategic relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

“The Egyptian foreign minister reiterated his country’s condemnation of all attacks targeting the Kingdom, affirming Egypt’s full support for the Kingdom’s security and stability,” SPA reported.

Arab Parliament

The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned continued attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, including recent attacks targeting Jazan and Najran airports.

In a statement, President of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al-Yamahi condemned in the strongest terms the continued attacks by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom, most recently targeting Jazan and Najran airports and resulting in injuries and material damage, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

He affirmed that targeting cities and civilian facilities constitutes a violation of international law and poses a threat to regional security and stability.

Al-Yamahi affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the measures taken to protect its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Arab League

Meanwhile, the Arab League condemned, in the strongest terms, the Houthi militia’s continued attacks against Saudi Arabia and the dangerous escalation, which included targeting a number of cities and civilian facilities, most recently the two attacks targeting facilities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport, SPA reported.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Arab League also condemned attempts to target Makkah and Madinah, stressing that any threat to the security and sanctity of the Islamic holy sites constitutes a grave transgression and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world.

Pakistan and Turkiye condemned attacks

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye also condemned in the strongest terms the attempted targeting of Makkah and Madinah, as well as the continuing attacks targeting cities and civilian and economic facilities in the Kingdom.

The Parties reaffirmed their unequivocal rejection of any attack or threat against the Kingdom’s security and territorial integrity, according to the joint statement.

Pakistan and Turkiye commended the vigilance and readiness of the Saudi Armed Forces, as well as the professionalism and high level of competence they have demonstrated in countering the threats and attacks facing the Kingdom and in safeguarding its security and territorial integrity.
