ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Sunday announced Rs35 increase in the prices of petrol and diesel amid reports of unavailability of the commodities at the fuel stations.
The new prices became applicable from 11am today (Sunday), said Ishaq Dar as he came on media to make the announcement. Rumours of a massive hike in petrol prices had resulted in long queues at petrol pumps across the country on Saturday. The minister also announced a Rs18 hike in the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel.

New petrol price set at Rs249 per litre
As per the notification, the new price of petrol would be Rs249 per litre. According to reports circulating on social media, the prices of petrolium products were expected to increase by around Rs45 to Rs80 on February 1.
The government desision is likely to fetch severe criticism from common man who is already under extreme economic burden. Reacting to the increase, Paksitan Awami Muslim League Head Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that it is yet to see which one of the dollar and petrol crosses Rs 300 mark as he criticised the government for the increase in the prices of petroleum products.
