KABUL: Seven Taliban fighters were killed and six others wounded after Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) fighters launched a rocket attack on a Taliban military convoy travelling from Kabul to Badakhshan Province, the opposition group said on Saturday.
According to the AFF, its fighters tracked the convoy from Kabul to the Northern Salang area before targeting it in Doshi district. The group said the convoy was transporting Taliban reinforcements and military equipment destined for Badakhshan Province. It said there were no casualties among its fighters during the operation.
The latest attack comes days after the Afghanistan Freedom Front declared that its armed campaign against the Taliban had entered a new stage following intense clashes in Zebak district of Badakhshan.
AFF political chief Daoud Naji earlier said the group’s recent operations marked the beginning of a decisive phase in the fight against Taliban rule.
In a post on X, he said the battle for Afghanistan’s liberation had entered a new phase and that the Afghan people would ultimately benefit from the campaign.
Earlier this week, Freedom Front fighters launched coordinated attacks on Taliban positions in Zebak district, where local sources reported fighting continued for two days.

Taliban officials acknowledged the Zebak attack. Local sources reported that three Taliban commanders were killed during the clashes.
The latest operation suggests the Freedom Front is expanding its campaign by targeting Taliban troop movements and military logistics, underscoring continued armed resistance against Taliban rule in parts of Afghanistan since the group’s return to power in August 2021.
