ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s government on Friday announced a reduction of Rs4 per litre in petrol prices, while keeping the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) unchanged.

According to a notification from the Petroleum Division, the revised fuel prices will take effect from June 6 and remain in force for the coming week.

Following the latest revision, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs4 per litre to Rs377.78, down from Rs381.78. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) remains unchanged at Rs380.78 per litre.

The government has been conducting weekly reviews of petroleum prices since the outbreak of the US-Israel-Iran conflict on February 28, amid heightened volatility in global oil markets and concerns over energy supply disruptions.

A week ago, the government had reduced the petrol and diesel prices by Rs22 per litre.

Petrol, widely used in motorcycles, rickshaws, and private vehicles, directly impacts the budgets of middle- and lower-income households.

Diesel, primarily consumed by heavy transport, agricultural machinery, and railways, has broader inflationary effects due to its role in moving goods across the country.

Pakistan had already approved a one-month extension for the fuel subsidy previously granted to motorcyclists, public transport operators, and goods carriers across the country.
