GWADAR: The mother, grandfather and maternal uncle of Shahnaz Baloch, a militant commander of a banned outfit, on Friday publicly announced their disassociation from her, saying they had “nothing to do with her or her activities”.
Speaking at a press conference in Turbat alongside Shahnaz’s grandfather and uncle, her mother, Rukhsana Baloch, said her husband had died when Shahnaz was only nine months old.
“We heard she has joined a banned outfit and is holding the status of commander,” Rukhsana Baloch said.
She said Shahnaz’s father had died when she was only nine months old and that she was raised in the Kalaho area of Tump in Kech district.
According to her mother, Shahnaz later got married and moved to Oman, where she became the mother of two children.
Shahnaz’s grandfather and maternal uncle also expressed concern over her association with the banned organisation, saying the family had “absolutely no connection” with any of her actions, statements or activities.
They added that the family had never been aware of her involvement with the group.
Separately, a social media message widely shared online warned the public about tactics used by terrorists affiliated with the banned outfit.
According to the post, some terrorists disguise themselves as women to bypass security checkpoints and discourage physical searches by police and other law enforcement agencies.
Hello Pakistanis! Beware of this online propaganda. BLA Terrorists dress up as women (cross-dressers) to avoid security check posts and to dissuade physical checking by police and other Law Enforces. pic.twitter.com/hi481uTFCJ

The message called on citizens to remain alert to attempts by terrorist groups to evade security measures.
The banned outfit has been involved in a series of militant attacks in Balochistan targeting security personnel, government installations and civilians.
The organisation has also been designated as a terrorist group by Pakistan due to its involvement in attacks that have claimed dozens of lives in recent years.
