ISLAMABAD: Pakistani high-altitude climber Sohail Sakhi, a native of Hunza, has successfully summited Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain at 8,586 metres, bringing yet another proud moment for Pakistan’s mountaineering community.

Sohail reached the peak of the Nepali mountain at 12:12 AM local time on Wednesday, climbing as part of the rope-fixing team, a technically demanding and critical role in any high-altitude expedition. His achievement further strengthens Pakistan’s growing reputation in the global mountaineering arena.

A seasoned and accomplished high-altitude climber, Sohail boasts an impressive track record of scaling some of the world’s most formidable peaks. He has previously summited K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II, all without the use of supplemental oxygen, demonstrating exceptional physical endurance and technical skill.
