KARACHI: Pakistan Women have clinched the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe Women with a convincing 67-run victory in the second T20I at the National Bank Stadium on Thursday.

The hosts, batting first, posted a formidable 170 for 4 and then restricted Zimbabwe to 103 for 8, sealing the series with one match still to play tomorrow.

Eyman Fatima stars with explosive unbeaten 79

The cornerstone of Pakistan’s innings was young batter Eyman Fatima, who remained unbeaten on a sensational 79 off just 43 balls. Her knock featured 10 boundaries and four towering sixes, striking at an impressive 183.72.

After early wobbles that saw Pakistan slip to 46 for 3 in the 8th over, Eyman joined forces with Muneeba Ali, who contributed a steady 36 off 33 balls. The pair added 46 runs for the fourth wicket before Natalia Pervaiz provided late fireworks with an unbeaten 24 off 19 balls.

Pakistan plundered 58 runs in the final five overs without losing a wicket, finishing at a commanding 170 for 4.

Zimbabwe struggle as Pakistan bowlers share wickets

Chasing 171 for victory, Zimbabwe’s innings never gained momentum. Fatima Sana struck early, removing Beloved Biza for 11.

Sadia Iqbal then dismissed Runyararo Pasipanodya for just 1, leaving Zimbabwe reeling at 14 for 2. Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 18 in her three overs, including the key wickets of Kelis Ndhlovu (8) and Adel Zimunu (12).

Tuba Hassan, Ayesha Zafar, and Natalia Pervaiz each picked up one wicket apiece, ensuring a steady fall of wickets throughout the innings.

Captain Nomvelo Sibanda fought a lonely battle, remaining unbeaten on 18 off 37 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Kudzai Chigora added a late cameo of 14 not out, but Zimbabwe finished well short at 103 for 8 in their 20 overs.

The 67-run victory gives Pakistan an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, having already won the first T20I. The win also extends Zimbabwe’s losing streak in T20Is, as the visitors continue to search for answers against a dominant home side.

Pakistan’s bowlers maintained excellent discipline, with four bowlers conceding at under 4.50 runs per over. Sadia Iqbal was particularly economical, returning figures of 1 for 10 in three overs at an economy rate of just 3.33.

The third and final T20I will be played at the same venue tomorrow, with Pakistan looking for a clean sweep and Zimbabwe aiming to salvage some pride.

With the series already in the bag, Pakistan may experiment with their lineup in the dead rubber, but the confidence from this comprehensive victory will serve them well.
