RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman met with Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, in Jeddah on Monday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the latest developments in Sudan, along with their implications and ongoing efforts to address the situation.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Sudan’s security and stability, while preserving its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, SPA added.
Al-Burhan was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport earlier on Monday by Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, deputy governor of the Makkah Region; Saleh bin Ali Al-Turki, mayor of Jeddah; Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Sudan; Dafallah Al-Hajj, Sudan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and other senior officials.
Saudi Arabia and Sudan share longstanding ties rooted in historical, cultural, and economic links, strengthened by their proximity across the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia has consistently supported Sudan through humanitarian aid, development assistance, and diplomatic engagement.
The two countries also cooperate on regional security, investment, and trade, with Saudi Arabia playing a key role in efforts to promote stability in Sudan.
In recent years, Riyadh has supported dialogue initiatives and provided economic assistance aimed at helping Sudan achieve peace and sustainable development.
