DOHA: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha late Monday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
He was received at Hamad International Airport by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar Muhammad Amir, and senior diplomatic officials.
PM Sharif is accompanied by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
During his visit, PM Sharif will hold bilateral talks with the Qatari leadership to boost economic cooperation, energy partnerships, trade, investment, infrastructure projects, and manpower exports.
Officials say both sides will also exchange views on regional and global developments, highlighting the strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar.

Qatar hosts a significant Pakistani community of over 200,000, contributing to economic and social development in both countries.
Energy and trade remain key pillars of bilateral relations, with Qatar supplying roughly 3.5 million tons of LNG annually to Pakistan under long-term agreements. Bilateral trade stands at about $2 billion, with Pakistan exporting rice and meat, and importing petroleum and chemical products.
Investment cooperation has grown, including Qatar’s pledge of $3 billion in 2023, with future collaboration expected in renewable energy, food security, and infrastructure.
Defence and security ties remain strong, including Pakistan’s deployment of personnel for major events such as the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Cultural and educational exchanges continue to expand, with initiatives such as Qatar’s “Educate A Child” program and cultural exhibitions like “Manzar” in Doha.
Officials say PM Sharif’s visit underscores the shared commitment of Pakistan and Qatar to strengthen strategic cooperation and promote mutual prosperity.
