ISLAMABAD: A 17-member delegation of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) is visiting Pakistan on a week-long visit on Monday, to enhance cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
The IMCTC delegation is being led by its Secretary General, Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Radio Pakistan said.
“The 17-member delegation of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition will inaugurate a special training program aimed at countering terrorism,” the report said.
The visit of the delegation symbolizes a strong alliance between the Islamic world in the fight against terrorism.
The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) is a military alliance of 43 Muslim nations.
It was established in December 2015 at the initiative of Saudi Arabia, with the aim of coordinating and reinforcing the joint efforts of Muslim countries in tackling terrorism.
The coalition includes Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, and several other Muslim nations.
Former Pakistan army chief, General (retd) Raheel Sharif, was appointed as the commander-in-chief of the IMCTC in 2017.
Pakistan has good ties with Muslim countries globally, especially those in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
In September 2025, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia strengthened their strategic partnership by signing a mutual defence agreement.
This agreement states that an act of aggression against one country will be considered an act of aggression against the other.
