KUNDUZ, Afghanistan: Two Taliban fighters were killed, and two others were wounded in an attack in Kunduz province, the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) said in a statement.
According to the group, the assault took place near the “Mufti Siraj” mosque on Imam Sahib Port Road on Saturday, while the vehicle carrying the fighters was set on fire during the attack.
The AFF, an anti-Taliban resistance group, has previously claimed responsibility for similar assaults, including an attack on a Taliban appellate court in Faryab province, which it said killed four Taliban fighters.
The Taliban, who returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, are known for their strict conservative policies, including severe restrictions on women’s and girls’ education and employment.
The group has also been accused of providing safe havens to militant organizations such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation (BL) groups, drawing widespread international criticism for fostering regional instability.
The Kunduz attack underscores ongoing resistance against the Taliban and highlights the continuing insecurity in Afghanistan, particularly in provinces where anti-Taliban groups remain active.
