LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended the bidding deadline for the acquisition of two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises by one week, responding to a surge of international interest from major global markets. The new deadline for final bid submissions is now December 22, 2025.

Growing Interest from Europe, USA, Middle East

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the extension via his official social media account, attributing the decision to significant global enthusiasm for the league’s expansion. “Witnessing growing interest from Europe, the USA, the Middle East and beyond in acquiring new HBL PSL teams, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline,” Naqvi stated.

He extended his best wishes to prospective bidders, signalling a warm welcome to the PSL’s expanding ownership group.

Successful Roadshow Drives International Engagement

The deadline extension follows a widely successful investor roadshow at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, which drew an impressive turnout and significant interest from global investors.

In a continued effort to attract international capital, the PCB has scheduled an additional roadshow in New York this Saturday. This strategic global outreach precedes the final auction of the two new franchises, set for January 6, 2026.

Pivotal Expansion for Pakistan’s Premier T20 League

This development marks a transformative moment for the HBL PSL, setting the stage for its first major expansion since 2018. The league, which launched with five teams in 2016 and expanded to six two years later, will now feature eight franchises beginning with its 11th season next year.

The move underscores the league’s rising commercial appeal and its successful pivot toward attracting a more diverse, international investor base, solidifying its status as a growing powerhouse in global T20 cricket.
