ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bahrain have reaffirmed their resolve to further enhance existing military-to-military ties between the two states, a military statement said on Wednesday.
General Shaikh Mohammad Bin ISA Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander Bahrain National Guard, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at General Headquarters (GHQ), the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further enhance existing military-to-military ties between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
ISPR said the visiting dignitary appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and acknowledged its role in regional peace and stability.
The Army Chief highlighted long-standing brotherly relations between the two nations and expressed Pakistan’s continued support for Bahrain in all domains.
Pakistan and Bahrain enjoy strong diplomatic, security, trade, and defence relations, reinforced through joint training programmes, collaborative security initiatives, and regular high-level engagements.
Last week, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Bahrain and held an important meeting with King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa with an aim to strengthen cooperation across political, economic, defence, and cultural sectors.
In October, the two countries agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation across various sectors during the inaugural meeting of the Pakistan–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Earlier, in September, both sides had also committed to expanding cooperation in counterterrorism, anti-narcotics, and immigration.
