Pakistan, China Agree to Strengthen Counter-Terrorism Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has met with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad, where they agreed to boost counter-terrorism cooperation.

The ambassador strongly condemned the suicide bombing in Islamabad and offered condolences over the loss of innocent lives.

The Ambassador said that the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also condemned this unfortunate incident.

Both sides agreed to further enhance counter-terrorism and security cooperation, Radio Pakistan reported on Monday.

The minister said Pakistan-China relations are based on mutual trust and respect. He added that China is a trusted friend that has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times.

The Chinese Ambassador said his country will continue to maintain full cooperation with Pakistan.

Pakistan witnessed two deadly attacks last week — one at a cadet college in the northwestern town of Wana and another in Islamabad, where a suicide bomber detonated himself outside a district court in the G-11 area. T

The Islamabad blast claimed 12 lives and injured 36 others. Although no group has claimed responsibility, Pakistani officials stated that both attacks were carried out by Afghan nationals.
