COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: Pakistani batter Mehreen Ali has set a new world record in blind women’s cricket after scoring a double century in the opening match of the Blind Women’s Cricket World Cup in Colombo.
Pakistan posted 331 runs without loss against Sri Lanka. Mehreen scored 230 runs off 78 balls, a performance officials said set a global record in blind women’s cricket.
Mehreen’s innings included 39 boundaries, and she reached her double century off 70 balls.
The Sri Lankan side was dismissed for 120 runs, giving Pakistan a 221-run victory. Pakistan’s bowlers Noor Fatima, Huriya Malik and Samira Malik took one wicket each.

Speaking after the match, Mehreen thanked Allah for the achievement and dedicated the record to Pakistan, her parents and the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council.
“I thank Allah for helping me achieve this record,” she said. “This achievement is dedicated to Pakistan, my parents, and the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council for giving me this opportunity.”
Officials and team representatives described the innings as a landmark moment for Pakistani blind cricket and for women’s sports globally.
