Pakistan PM Sharif to Embark on Three-Day Official Visit to Malaysia on Sunday

ISLAMABAD/KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on a three-day official visit to Malaysia from October 5 to 7 at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Radio Pakistan reported.

During the visit, the two leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral talks on regional and global developments, as well as steps to bolster cooperation in trade, IT, telecom, Halal industry, investment, education, energy, infrastructure, digital economy, and people-to-people ties.

According to Malaysia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Pakistani delegation, which will include Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar along with other senior ministers, will witness the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and exchanges of Notes (EoNs) across sectors.

The MoUs are expected to cover areas including tourism, higher education, halal industry, anti-corruption cooperation, and support for small and medium enterprises. An exchange of diplomatic training programmes is also on the agenda.

On arrival in Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Sharif is to receive an official welcome ceremony at the Perdana Putra Complex in Putrajaya, and will present an Urdu edition of the book “SCRIPT: For a Better Malaysia” to Anwar Ibrahim. He is also slated to be conferred an honorary doctorate in leadership and governance by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

The visit also includes the Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference, where both sides aim to explore further economic opportunities.

The visit underscores Pakistan’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with Malaysia, Radio Pakistan reported. It also reaffirms the importance both countries place on working together to promote peace, stability, trade & investment and sustainable development.

The Pakistani side looks forward to mutually beneficial engagements in Malaysia, building on the solid foundations of friendship and cooperation that exist between our two nations, Radio Pakistan reported.
