ISLAMABAD: Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu arrived in Islamabad on Monday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

Nurtleu was received at the airport by the Additional Secretary for West Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Syed Ali Asad Gillani, along with other senior officials. He was accompanied by a 13-member delegation, Radio Pakistan reported.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement that the visit is an important precursor to the forthcoming state visit of Kazakhstan’s President to Pakistan, scheduled for November 2025.

During his stay, Nurtleu will hold a one-on-one meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, followed by delegation-level talks. He is also expected to call on President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Foreign Office said discussions will review preparations for the Kazakh President’s visit later this year and will cover the full range of bilateral cooperation.

Areas of focus include trade and investment, agriculture, education, cultural and tourism exchanges, regional connectivity, logistics, and collaboration at multilateral forums.

The visit will also see the convening of Joint Working Group meetings on agriculture and information technology.

The visit of the Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will further cement the longstanding Pakistan-Kazakhstan ties and contribute to deepening bilateral engagements in diverse fields, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, according to Radio Pakistan.
